Wesfarmers made a conditional offer for Lynas today. Lynas mines and produces rare earth commodities used in magnets for electric vehicles.
From the AFR (Chanticleer) today:
For some time, Wesfarmers has been conducting in-depth research into the electric vehicle industry. It has identified a huge opportunity in “new energy” commodities including rare earths and lithium. Wesfarmers sees this as a growth opportunity which can deliver satisfactory returns to shareholders over the long term.
