I knew I had read about the community consultation some time ago. Just took me a while to find it.

Battery Minerals indicated during community consultation they would help provide equipment for the school, so they are delivering on that commitment.

Here's a summary of some of the other things the local community asked about:

• Improved cellphone coverage ( which BAT also undoubtedly need )
• Investigate whether they can help with a community dam
• Jobs for the youth
• Helping with improving agriculture
• Help with improving hospital facilities
• Investigation and management of sacred sites
• Displaced farmers ( which is resolved in accordance with government legislation )

For anyone that has a cynical attitude to the work being done by BAT for the community, you shouldn't. It's a very important aspect to creating a successful project. They are delivering on their commitments which is good to see. It's all part of the delivery of the project - and a sign that BAT are progressing the completion of the project.

It's all done in accordance with legislated processes.
