rchased the product I sent an email to Cop Dot tech support asking "How do I know if my local law enforcement agency has detection equipment?" Never heard back. Purchased the product anyway because I have experience in micro identification technology and wanted to see Cop Dot in action. When I tried the product the dispensing pen mechanism failed so no Cop Dots or glue came out. I overrode the mechanism(broke off the top and pushed the plunger manually) to dispense glue and dots. There were times when I got glue and no dots so if you didn't know any better you'd think there were markers when there are not. The dots are very small so you need some equipment to confirm they are in the glue. I called the Cop Dot tech support number to ask about broken pen mechanism. Never heard back.
    Pros cute idea

I purchased this from a Lowes store and tried to use it on several items in my house. But nothing would come out of the dispenser. I read the instructions and tried to follow them, but no luck. I then contacted the manufacturer. They called me back and suggested some things to get it to work. But still nothing would come out. So in the end had to return to the store for a refund.

I love the idea, but the dispenser pen doesn't work. I bought one and after a few clicks it stops working. So, I returned it for another one and the new one didn't work at all. The product is dated 08/06/13 and I am wondering if it is dried up. I don't hear or feel anything when I shake it. What a complete disappointment.

The day after I bought it (and before I opened the package), I went to luncheon sponsored by local law enforcement. I mentioned to a deputy that I'd bought them -- and asked if it was something they worked with. (I figured, if the local pawn shops and law enforcement agencies don't look for these dots, what's the point?) He said what he recommends is that people take digital photos of any valuables, getting a clear shot of serial number (when applicable) -- and then store the files in a safe place to refer to when/if the item is stolen. In areas where law enforcement and pawn shops look for Copdots, this is probably a good product and ida. Unfortunately for me, I don't live in one of those places.
So... I returned it to the store and got my money back. Now, I'm busy taking photos.

Love the idea, but couldn't get the product out of the dispenser.
Shook the product as directed and clicked the pump button for 8 minutes before looking up reviews.
My experience is the same as most --- the button gets stuck when clicking and the glue/dot product doesn't dispense.
Wish it worked ---- Will be returning it for a refund.

Bought one in October and nothing would come out of pen. thought it was just bad pen, so took it back and bought another one. Careful to shake for more than minute, nothing came out. Heard the ball shake inside first few shakes and then it quit. Set it up on lamp shade to see it warming would loosen fluid up. did not work at all. Good idea, but ..........

This pen puts a nearly invisible mark on your valuables containing a unique number. The police have a special took to be able to see the mark and read the code number. A stolen item can be recovered and returned to you more quickly. You register your number online for free. The one pen marked 30+ items of mine. I made a list before I started so I could work quickly. The paint in the pen dries up in a day so mark all your items at the same time.
You can list the items you marked on their website.
The pen also came with window stickers.

Based on the recommendation of the Lowes sales associate who strongly suggested the purchase when buying my new cordless drill. Uncertain at first but for the price and return policy I decided to give it a shot.
I got home and not only marked my drill but most of the tools in my work shed in no time.
Application is easy just like using a marker. Make sure to shake prior to using and try to do all at the same time. This product is clearly better than trying to engrave particularly now I also have it registered on the CopDots website. Bonus, there are no additional or hidden fees however it would be nice to have a few extra warning stickers.
    Pros Durable
    Cons one time use
