Some people have pretty rigorous rules about taking profit. At 50% gain off the lows a lot of people will sell half or a third and carry the rest. So supply comes in even if these people are long term in their remaining holdings. This is healthy, a stock with no supply side rarely moves, since you dont have a market. You want just enough supply to service demand but not so little people move on elsewhere to where they can get stock or so much supply it pushes the price down by swamping demand.
