Yep, I contacted Vanguard to satisfy myself that the fund is 100% unhedged. I like VTS for the very reasons you described, and piled into it yesterday, in the knick of time perhaps.
My objective was USD and US market exposure at low cost. I generally avoid managed funds like the plague.
