I have no problem with shorting, I engage it the practice myself and, in my view, it is a necessary function in all properly working markets.

If you haven't work out the real issue here, let me explain it for you now. The general feedback from the HC site is .... instead of making all these preposterous claims in hindsight and as a result looking like a complete wanker, why don't you grow some balls and actually provide some worthwhile commentary regarding the fundamental issues confronting a stock before the stock has fallen 50%. I, for one, would applaud such an outcome.
