Was tame broker enlisted? Or does broker have claws? Is broker controlling George B. If so, Fund Manager Bill L will be in for a tough tough time with the Board stacked by broker nominees. Will he be instructed to take part in ipos and placements he might otherwise have turned down.
George B and C are now hostage to a board controlled by broker ? If they don't play ball, broker can find another fundie ?
George B did not deliver the 27%. Probably something like this. 7% real shareholders who want a change. Majority of 20% balance broker voted on behalf of client, no need to consult as full discretion clients, or if need consult follow broker advice?
What is interesting, broker can repeat same play on other LICs. As long as 55% or more don't vote and broker control 20% , they can seize the board .
Which broker would not like a captive pot of money and fundies who are at their beck and call?
