"Or [I could] ring Geoff Wilson and ask when he will do a Microcap Fund
You would think he would be licking his lips right now. Make a scrip offer even"
Why should anyone bother with the rigmarole of making a script offer - that's so passé.
Instead, they could just round up a 5% holding in CTN, request an EGM, enlist some tame brokers and advisers, and thereby install their own cat's paw directors on CTN's board, and hey presto, they would have de facto control of CTN.
Does that scenario sound strangely familiar?
If CTN's shareholders have to lose independent control of their LIC, why not lose it to somebody who can run a half decent fund?
If somebody in Wilson's class asked, I would be happy to pledge my votes to that cause, if only to stick it up some of the people on the winning side of recent events.
How about you?
In any case, given the track record of Wilson's funds, why not?
It would be the quickest way to an improvement in CTN's share price.
But he would have to move quickly, in case the Investment Management Agreement between CTN and CGA is amended to make CGA the manager of all CTN's funds in perpetuity, irrespective of performance.
You are "all fuelled up" and I am incandescent.
We should go and light a fire under somebody about this. (metaphorically speaking)
(As a CTN shareholder, I take no pleasure in noting that the CTN share price has not rebounded as some here had hoped would occur subsequent to the announcement of the new regime and the resolution of the uncertainty.
That is because, despite the recent claims to the contrary, Mr Market didn't much care about any of that, but rather has a good idea of just how CGA's stock picks in CTN's portfolio are performing. The CTN share price drop through February closely matched the fall in the underlying portfolio, and assuming the publicly disclosed top 20 holdings are still held and that they is representative of the rest, it remains depressed in my estimation. and that is reflected in the current share price.)
