I agree the machine can run for a lot longer each day if it is in a fully automated setting. Depends on the company and how they run their shifts.
The 8 hours was conservative guess of actual running time. It also allows for a couple hours of setup, powder loading and maintenance on a 10 hour shift.
It will take a while (say a few months) for companies to ramp up production with the machines. There will be some jigging and fixtures to include and any downstream automation will need to be incorporated. First year the usage will be choppy I think.
I am inclined to see what the balance sheet says then take a position. If the growth is as big as many think it will be good growth for many years. I am pretty excited by the possibilities of the technology but in product development on this scale it takes time to build momentum.
