Hi Guys ,
The court case LKO V Victorian Govt was heard before Justice Macaulay on the 14th and 15th of March was expected to take 3 days was finished in two. The judge has reserved his decision and could have a judgement decision out about the 9th of April ( 3 working day weeks 15 days approx )??
LKO asking 2.6 billion in compensation but consensus believes if compensation is granted it might be closer to 300 - 500 million. LKO will at least want the right to proceed ASAP with the wells they have drilled to produce the gas Reserves they hold for Victoria, SA and Tasmania if they were to get that judgement then maybe they would accept a reduction in the compensation.
If that occurs there would be an initial rerate of LKO SP and subsequently DHR (35.7 % ), AJQ (8.2%) and DGR (1.5%) total of 45% ownership by the group and then if LKO can produce the gas then the group would participate in a longer term rerate as the project moves forward.
If the judgement is positive for LKO this could be a great boost for all the subs and the parent which just might shift the NTA and so the S/P for DGR up a notch or two. (Always the optimist)
A report just out by AEMO (Australian Energy Market Operator) in March says the gas production in
Victoria is going to go down badly as offshore Bass Strait gas fields decline, and further reports that the State is heading for Gas SHORT FALLS on peak demand by the winter of 2021 and will reduce further in 2022 and that will effect SA,,Tas, and NSW because they import gas from Victoria.
Gippslands maximum daily production capacity is forecast to reduce by 50% compared to 2018 forecast and Port Campbells daily production is forecasted to reduce by 76%.
The AEMO says Victoria will be importing gas from QLD UNLESS something is done to BOOST Production. ONE of those options is ONSHORE GAS DEVELOPMENT which the Victorian Govt has currently BANNED.
And would you believe the Victorian Govt are looking at OPTIONS to include increased Production and storage or additional pipeline import capacity.?????????????????????????????????????????????????
What sort of an inept bunch is this lot -Go ask yourself !!!!!!!!!!!
This upcoming Judgement has huge ramifications for LKO and for our Subs keep your eyes peeled for the decision around the 10th April I hope. Heres hoping for a positive outcome.
Keep the faith
