JAMES Packer’s dream of a six-star hotel and VIP-only casino at Sydney’s Barangaroo precinct is a step closer after amendments to the planned $2 billion development gained the thumbs up from the NSW Government.
The concept from Melbourne-based Crown Resorts, which is 53 per cent owned by Mr Packer, has been revised to take on 20 new or updated conditions.
The changes include allowing public access to the 65th floor observation area overlooking Sydney Harbour, increased access to the surrounding parks and foreshore, and a limit on construction hours.
The plan now goes to the Planning Assessment Commission.
