The vandalism risk (to the outlets, if not the panels themselves) in parks and bus shelters would be unattractive to installers.
Where does the lamination take place? All I can see, on p.26 and in the videos, are triple glazed units with the special glass in the middle and two ordinary panes on the outsides. That’s why they will be so expensive. So it’s not “just laminating glass together and glass manufacturers do that anyway”. And even if they tried, if you look up how laminated glass is made you would see that it can’t be done. The glass wouldn’t stick to the glass in the same way the plastic does, the three panes would simply fall apart.
So that is definitely not easy enough, because it’s wrong. Yes, it’s easy enough to make 300,000 1 sq.m. triple glazed panels, but very expensive.
Yes, the licensees become the sales force. They take all the commercial, financial and manufacturing risks. So the rewards will have to be significant to invest large amounts of time and money in persuading architects, engineers and builders to use a new product which atm only comes in 1 sq. m. thick framed panels.
I like my 1992 house, thanks, cool in summer, warm in winter, low electricity bills. They don’t build them like this anymore.
