A while back I did my own calculations of cost outlay and payback rate. After I came up with the numbers, I found a Singapore installation done by another company had the same power gains per sqm as what I calculated.
I spelled out the entire calculation in a few posts, but it would take me too long to scroll back and find them.
But off the top of my head, I calculated using 3 full walls of a highrise, using North, East and West walls. Based on say 20 meters wide and 50 meters high, there would be 3 walls with 1000sqm of glass = 3000sqm.
The Glass on a highrise would be insulated laminated glass anyway, so the extra cost for it to have Clearvue solar collection inside the glass and the edges is $60 per sqm extra cost. At 3000sqm x $60 per meter extra cost is $180k extra cost on that building to use Clearvue glass over normal laminated insulated glass.
So 3000 sqm generating 130 watts per sqm per day = 142,350 killawatts per year on a 3000 sqm installation.
The extra cost was 180k or $60 per sqm.
So to Calculate the payback on 142,350 kw at world rates of AUD 34c per kwh = $48,400 payback in year one.
Once you start adding potential rises in Power prices of 5% per year, the payback rates start showing how viable it is.
Outlay $180k. Payback assuming power charges of 34c World average prices rise 5% per year.
Year 1 payback = $48,400
Year 2 payback = $50,800
Year 3 payback = $53,360
Year 4 payback = $56,030
Year 5 payback = $58,830
Year 6 payback = $61,770
Year 7 payback = $64,860
Year 8 payback = $68,100
Year 9 payback = $71,500
Year 10 payback = $75,080
Yr 11 = $78,800
Yr 12 = $ 82,770
Yr 13 = $ 86,900
Yr 14 = $91,250
Yr 15 = $95,800
Yr 16 = $100,600
Yr 17 = $105,630
Yr 18 = $110,900
Yr 19 = $116,460
Yr 20 = $122,280
Yr 21 = $128,400
Yr 22 = $134,800
Yr 23 = $141,540
Yr 24 = $148,617
Yr 25 = $$156,050
So its easy to see how good this is looking after 10 years and even better after 20 years, When the xtra cost for Clearvue Glass was an extra 180k over the cost of the same insulated laminetd glass without the Clearvue tech in it.
