CityPac quarterly update was released today. The CPK section was dedicated to their hotels and new operations manager. Not much news about the Martha Cove EOI tender.
There has been no slow down in activity at either of the CP1 hotels under the watchful eye of their General Manager Mike Jones. Mr Jones said both the Paradise Resort and the Gold Coast International have been kept busy with their selective clientele despite a higher than normal softening in holiday traffic which is seasonal after Easter. “Our decision to attract the conference sector to the GCI has given us buoyancy through the quieter months which have also been affected by the fallout from the fuel and financial disruptions. “Paradise Resort of course is another matter being a family destination. Occupancies have been achieving percentages in the high 70’s as parents take advantage of the competitive rates outside the school holiday periods. And Paradise Resort’s crowded trophy cabinet may have to make room for another after being named a finalist in the World Travel Awards category for best family resort. The next big thing for Mike is the Gold Coast Indy which will once again be hurtling past the Gold Coast International come October. “It’s an unforgettable experience. The gci is positioned at one of the best vantage points on the entire race track, particularly as you actually get to see the Indy cars close up from the balconies as they slow down for the corners right outside the hotel before accelerating down the straights.” The GCI is taking bookings now for rooms trackside and Mike suggests to call as soon as possible for the best seats in the house. CP1 limited has a 50% interest in Cira International Pty Ltd, the joint venture company in partnership with the Raptis group. Cira owns the hotel on a 2.3 hectare property earmarked for a four tower high-rise residential and hotel development. Plans for the development have been submitted to the Gold Coast City Council and are expected to be approved in the second half of this year.
