CD - I am giving up my license this week (today actually) so am able to enter these trades and have no limitations on exit.

Yes IB allows me to enter this as a 'generic combo', which creates a ticker for the trade and prices it as the ratio. it also allows charting of it as a single asset, so technical analysis etc also works.

I do this trade in Hong Kong on listed ETF's as well. Usually HK stocks ETF vs China A50 ETF. There are many others, such as 857.hk vs 883.hk (both oil stocks). The trick is to make sure there is no emotion or attachment to a stock. Onmce that happens you can start to take a biased view, even though the ratio may not be in the right place.

Also, with IB the trades net each other out for margin purposes, so a A$100k long vs A$100k short has very limited impact on margining.
