unfortunately for Westpac there is no law that says the Ed Dept has to produce graduates that can use a calculator, but responsible lending laws are enshrined.
I’d like to also *add* that these people probably could use a calculator and use it well..look past the teary sob story and see what they may be ultimately trying to do - suing to either void the loan contracts or get compo so they can keep what they had prior to the foreclosure or gain...that’s not what stupid people do.
This suit is more about using the responsible lending law to your financial advantage than irresponsibility on the part of the borrow or lack of education, awareness or financial acumen by blaming others. It’s just an argument they are using to achieve an end..
