That was my thought, what do lawyers have to do with an accounting standard implementation?
If a lawyer has just been used to interpret the wording of an accounting standard then it's meaningless, that's not how accounting standards are implemented.

The only opinion that would mean anything would be the members of the accounting board who drew up the standard not some over paid jumped up lawyer who tries to interpret what he thinks they intended. There is no court of law to appeal the enforcement of accounting standards.
IMO they've just wasted probably tens of thousands of dollars for nothing.
