At least 2 of these plants are within or adjacent to Sydney Gas' leases. Could be a big day Tuesday for SGL.
"The Premier, Bob Carr, announced today that two new gas-fired power stations would be built at Tomago in the Hunter Valley and Uranquinty, near Wagga Wagga.
The plant at Tomago will cost $315 million and be built by the Government in partnership with the private sector and the $117 million Uranquinty plant will be built by the private sector.
Mr Carr also said planning had been approved for three gas-fired power stations to be built in partnership with the private sector at Munmorah, Bamarang and Marulan and 46 windmills will be built as part of a private wind farm at Crookwell, near Goulburn.
"The plans I've announced today - and measures in next month's [energy] white paper - will secure the state's energy needs for the next 20 years," Mr Carr told the NSW ALP Labor conference meeting in Sydney Town Hall.
He said his Government also plans to cut 60 per cent of carbon dioxide emissions in NSW by 60 per cent by 2050 and reduce carbon emissions to 2000 levels within 20 years." -AAP
