Not much change in the COT data this week. However, the commercials added a small amount of fresh longs (haven't seen this since first week of November last year), but added twice the amount in new longs so net move for them still positive. The specs continue to do the opposite and add 2x more shorts than longs.
And what of the notional $3.5 billion in buying that should of shown up in this data set? Well it must have been cleared through another exchange!? And if so, is it an actual physical purchase?
AUD GOLD looking healthy for the week despite some strength in the AUD. Could see a move for $1,650 this week via a weak AUD or strong USD GOLD move.
*The COT report is available every Friday with data from COB Tuesday. I've used the close price for gold in USD for every Tuesday and it is not represented on a daily basis.
**I am not posting this on the gold thread as it has - for the most part - deteriorated into bun fights of crud with little to no value, a real time waster.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COT spread chart - aggregate position of commercial and spec traders.
Total market spread - the total position short and long for the market, both commercial and spec.
Commercial position - long, short and spread.
Commercial rate of change - the percentage move in long and short spread from the prior week. As seen from the previous chart, the commercial long position is fairly static and it's the short position that contains the majority of movement. Positive percentage on the chart indicates the amount of shorts covered from the previous week. Conversely, negative indicates an increase in commercial short positions.
AUD GOLD - looks to be bottoming and ready for a move higher...
Spec position - long and short.
AUD GOLD - building a base for $1,650?
AUDUSD - up against DT resistance and rejected Friday, will the DT hold?
GDX - breakout and back test?
