COT Gold Charts, page-24

Not any material change in the charts to really mention. However, USD gold has fallen substantially since Tuesday's close of $1157 so next week's update will probably be more substantial for analysis. Gold's low of the week was Thursday, $1127. Unfortunately not represented in the chart pack due to COT data being COB Tuesday. In this modern digital day it amazes me data can't be updated daily, instead we need to wait three days - WTF is with that?

*The COT report is available every Friday with data from COB Tuesday. I've used the close price for gold in USD for every Tuesday and it is not represented on a daily basis.

**I am not posting this on the gold thread as it has - for the most part - deteriorated into bun fights of crud with little to no value, a real time waster.

COT spread chart - aggregate position of commercial and spec traders.



Total market spread - the total position short and long for the market, both commercial and spec.



Commercial position - long, short and spread.



Commercial rate of change - the percentage move in long and short spread from the prior week. As seen from the previous chart, the commercial long position is fairly static and it's the short position that contains the majority of movement. Positive percentage on the chart indicates the amount of shorts covered from the previous week. Conversely, negative indicates an increase in commercial short positions.
