    re: re:schitzy - corruption now admitted on a mass The point surely is that he and his company effectively defrauded the UN oil for food fund of $10million. Isn't that tantamount to theft and a criminal offence? Viz. Double theft from ordinary Iraqis, for whom the wheat was intended and from oil money that was theirs to start with.

    Also there can be a ten-year gaol penalty for such bribery under Australian Law.

    Suggest the law always has a didactic purpose so, in teaching the rest of us particularly the younger more impressionable members of society that Australia doesn't tolerate this sort of corruption, it might also help to reinforce, less hypocritically, that we don't like louts bashing old ladies to steal their handbags or drug/crime lords paying bribes to our police etc. Some seem to be suggesting it's OK to steal from the Iraqis as long as the proceeds help line the pokects of wealthy shareholders.
