But it's not our responsibility technically really either, as the carbon reduction to meet targets is the responsibility of India not Australia, just that we have the opportunity to try to stop the mine. Which I have for one have been.
But I'm not a coal miner relying on a job to eat and can certainly sympathise with them.
That's democracy, everyone is entitled to their view and I don't pretend that I live in Townsville and am unemployed and depressed. I genuinely feel for those in this position.
The quality of the coal in this Galilee basin area is not that good anyway as far as I have researched.
India also simply does not have the infrastructure to run power lines across their country anyway, so why dig up coal for a coal fired power station that may not be built anyway. But LLC can build this infrastructure so there I have a conflict of interest.
Solar in houses is such a better option..but who pays for this power in each individual house when hundreds of millions are extremely poor.
It's a tough one and won't happen as quick as we may like....but humans are resourceful little cracks when our back is against the wall.
Feel free to offer opinions but we are on a dying planet unless we get out Shite together real quick.

Unfortunately they might already have damaged the water table and Great Artesian Basin during the construction process even if they never get to start mining. And the NAIF minister (Senator Canavan) has stated that the Adani mine is not on its own a justification for building the railway - it only makes economic sense if there are other coal mines in the Galilee Basin developed to share the infrastructure.
