That's a very good analysis psi. As you acknowledged, the 1.90 figure is still relevant as it represents the threshold for vitality. So long as the price is above that, they should be able to carry on operating for hopes of higher prices. But the number you site shows what price the company needs to make a profit long term. And there's a big difference between operating for the sake of perpetuating management's salaries and operating at a realizable profit to shareholders. Paying down debt and/or developing additional revenue streams offer a way to close the gap. That said, I got copper in my name, so you know 2.80 isn't a major part of my forecast!
