There is also the attempt to make it lookalike cross holdings in other LIC's is some how a way to prop up share prices. Most LIC are trading at a discount to NTA so rather then propping up the holdings of Argo the shares held in AFIC and Milton actually are worth less than the shares they own.

Not saying some LIC don't do this but I think there is a difference between those that we created by money managers during the boom to make cash and "performance bonuses" for themselves and ones like Argo that have been established for a long time.
