Following the recent list of major shareholders in CTN which does not include CCP, I contacted Glenn Fowles of Contango to seek clarification of the cross ownership links.

He has promptly advised me of the following:

1.Contango MicroCap Limited owns shares in Contango Capital Partners Limited (CCP)(8.26 % as advised on 10 March 2010)

2.Contango Capital Partners Limited is not a shareholder in Contango MicroCap Limited

3.The advice on the Commsec site that CCP owned 12.7% of CTN is incorrect as is the claim that CCP used to be called Contango Asset Management Partners Ltd.

Glenn advised "On 2nd Feb 2010, Contango Asset Management Limited (the fund manager of Contango MicroCap Limited and Contango Capital Partners Limited) lodged a notice advising that it had a relevant interest in Contango MicroCap Limited amounting to 12.7% or 18,359,641 shares. Relevant Interest is a term defined by ASIC to describe where one party has the right to acquire, dispose or vote shares on behalf of others this covers the role of a fund manager on behalf of its clients."

"In that notice of 2/2/2010, it was disclosed as to how this 12.7% was represented on the share register I expect that this level of detail from the notice may not be on the CommSec site, however, it showed that the clients of Contango Asset Management Limited accounted for 4 separate holdings totalling 17,741,081 shares and directors of Contango Asset Management Limited also held 618,540 shares."

"The 4 client holdings are held by those clients nominated representatives as follows:
a.Advance Asset Management holding 3,405,557 shares through HSBC Nominees Ltd
b.MLC Investments holding 7,181,221 shares through National Nominees Ltd
c.Contango Managed Investment Scheme holding 1,503,996 shares, also through National Nominees Limited
d.Colonial First State holding 5,650,307 shares through Citicorp Nominees Pty Ltd"

So my previous claims of incest based on the Commsec/Morningstar research were overstated
