Whatever caused this universe to develop is such a prescribed way. Whatever caused life, has also imparted something of itself on humans. This something is where our science, art, exercised intelligence and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge comes from.
This is essentially what many religious people are taught. We know what the consequences of that are.
If we were ever visited by an advanced civilization whose intelligence is so advanced that human intelligence is no more than that of a rat by comparison then they may treat us with the disdain that we treat rats. If they compare our behaviour to that of rats they may conclude that we are not worth preserving in the same way that most humans don't feel much for the life of rat.
In my opinion we have an over-inflated sense of our own worth and lack humility as to our many shortcomings.
Such a profound aspect to being human will undoubtedly survive death or nothing makes sense.
If you require that belief to ensure that there is sense in life, I guess that you should not question that belief.
Nobody would get out of bed in the morning.
I confess that the prospect of not surviving my own death, gives me a greater sense of urgency to get out of bed in the morning because in my case life will be over soon.
