I think that's a good and fair summation.
There is a vast chasm between humans and animals. That chasm is because only the human has a rational and immortal soul. The human soul is not a product of physical creation.
Whatever caused this universe to develop is such a prescribed way. Whatever caused life, has also imparted something of itself on humans. This something is where our science, art, exercised intelligence and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge comes from.
Such a profound aspect to being human will undoubtedly survive death or nothing makes sense. Nobody would get out of bed in the morning.
