Are you sure? I was not aware that LiFX tiles could display images and could be hooked up together to form large displays. I think highly unlikely as this would be sung from the rooftops. More likely is that LiFX is utilising a pre-existing video display board in Times Square (one of many), to engage in a high profile branding campaign. Aligning their brand with creativity.
Intriguing that the focus of this is clearly on brand development as opposed to directly or even tangentially generating light bulb sales. While there is obviously a nexus between brand recognition and actual sales....this type of high profile spend
may also point to some near to mid term ambitions to leverage the LiFX brand into more home based technologies that just smart lighting. While clearly planned and initiated pre-acquisition, it may bode well for Buddy Technologies gradually expanding its footprint within the home.
As an aside, the LiFX acquisition, along with capabilities underpinning mobile applications such as Airstream Smart Connect and Parse on Buddy ... and with Ohm focused on commercial property resource monitoring & utilisation....we could say that the newly named Buddy Technologies is looking to cover more and more bases with Ohm, Roam and Home.
