A has 3000 shares for sale,
B wants to buy 2999 to round up his holding.
He does so and it shows up as a residual of 1 share on the market.
In the event of it selling it will become part of the 3000 order under the original brokerage.
Some of the other trades I believe can take place with very little brokerage due to a privileged status amongst financial brokers.

Would you not agree that any "manipulator" on spotting that would immediately think that dropping a few more at a loss on the market might trigger an avalanche.
