A couple of things worth considering -
1. If you trade with a retail/online broker limit orders will not be accepted if the gap between the bid and offer is deemed too far apart (usually a fixed percentage). Worst thing is the broker is under no obligation to inform you of this.
2. Full service brokers can buy/sell at any price
