Solco Ltd (SOO) develops, manufactures, markets and distributes solar water pumping and power generation systems in Australia, Europe, East Timor, the Maldives, and China.
Sun Mill Solar Pump system:The Sun Mill Solar Pump System uses solar energy to power bores and transfer pumps for the provision of water. They are designed to be simple, dependable and maintenance free. It also utilises the patented Sun Tracer system, that electronically tracks and follows the course of the sun to maximise power output.
Remote Area Power Supply (RAPS):Designed for those not connected to an electricity grid, RAPS generates DC electricity through the use of photovoltaic arrays, which is sent to a battery bank. When power is required, the electricity is sent through an inverter and converted to AC electricity. RAPS also utilises the Sun Tracer system. The Government provides a 35% rebate on remote homes which purchases renewable energy systems such as RAPS.
Grid Feed Solar Systems:Grid Feed Solar systems combine normal power grid technology with photovoltaic arrays. Solar panels generate DC electricity from the suns rays, which is then converted into AC electricity and into the house. Any excess energy generated is automatically exported to a power grid and the owner is credited at a pre-determined rate. If more energy is required, it is drawn from the power grid. The Australian Commonwealth Governments Photovoltaic will pay a rebate of $4 per installed watt of solar power, which is capped at $4,000 (1kW) per household.
Solar Powered Water Purification:Solarflow is a Solar Powered Reverse Osmosis water purification system. Through the combination of a Solar Mill, Sun Tracer and Solarflow system, clean water can be extracted. Waste water can be used for non-drinking purposes. Remote sites and third world countries are the largest potential market for this system.
EuropeIn December 2004, Solco Ltd commenced the manufacture of Solartech Genius solar hot water system in Portugal and will be offering Solartech licenses for manufacture in another five European countries. Solco Ltd has a 19% interest in its Portuguese licensee, Solco Europe, which has the right to manufacture and distribute Solartech Genius in Portugal and Spain.
