Collingwood fell in against old enemy Carlton on Sunday afternoon playing at Morwell in the heart of the LaTrobe Valley with an old coal fired power station in the background. Reasonable crowd on a pleasant afternoon.
Darcy Moore continues to impress in the backline taking many intercept marks. He has come a long way from when I first spotted him starting out at Ivanhoe Juniors many years ago. Jeremy Howe shanked his first 3 or 4 kicks and will be better for the run. Beames is all class. Mihocek was quiet, perhaps in a slightly different role.
Tom Langdon is Mr.Cool in the backline. Callum Brown showed some pace on occasion.
Grundy showed again why he and Max Gawn are the two hottest ruckman going around. The new rule 6,6,6 is providing skill players and burst players great opportunities at each centre bounce.
Carlton is building a new mosquito fleet but will struggle in the backline. I liked the Carlton work ethic which was missing to some extent last year. If Bolton can get some backs he may come into finals consideration in a couple of years. Sam Walsh will be a gun along with Paddy Dow.
Cannot wait to watch the Pies and Cats next Friday from my favourite seats at the MCG.
Go Pies!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers.......Daicosisgod
