never took much notice of cobalt before, until I became an investor in a nickel cobalt project yesterday
at around $40 to $45 per pound give me cobalt over uranium any day
back of the envelope shows Mt Thirsty is an extremely robust project
with the high cobalt grade, I work out there should be at least 3 million tonnes with a recovered grade of 1% nickel equivalent. Thats 30,000 tonnes nickel at $30,000 a tonne is gross $900million. we don't know the operating cost but consider this is the gold equivalent of an open cut at 5 to 6gpt and you get a feeling for the profit margin, probably at around 50% of the gross
Now I'd be very suprised if these two teams, Barra and Fission/Tasman, both with highly focused and experienced personal, can't make some $300 to $400 million cash flow out of this project in the next five to six years
