The television and radio host who has been at the vanguard of the four-decade trend in brown slacks, Steve Liebmann, has joined the list of A- to C-list celebrities to help companies drum up investor interest.

A year since the formerly Texas Pacific Group-owned Myer Holdings hired the former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins to help it in its sharemarket float, the NSW coal company Coalworks has leant on the trusted voice of the former Today show host. This also follows Qantas using John Travolta to help the entry of its first Airbus A380 into service and Territory Resources employing the AFL player Chris Judd.

''Coalworks has positioned itself for substantial asset growth as each coal development proceeds towards production,'' explains Liebmann in a corporate video on the Coalworks website.

''Coalworks' vision to become a producer of quality coals with new generation technologies is here. And this demonstrates how Coalworks is driving into a new coal era,'' says Liebmann, just as some stirring background music kicks in.

Coalworks is still trading at about half its 2008 listing price.
