While I. Not convinced that Fracking is A safe and good practice, nothing I've read has convinced me that fracking is positively bad. Thus I'm happy not yo Frack until we can be happy that it is safe.
With this being said the woman mentioned above and her husband were not on land that was going to have gas drilling, they were worried about the damage that would be done by having a pipe put userground in thier property and the erosion caused etc. They however did not feel that the dirt roads they themselves had built would cause erosion nor that any of their farming practices would cause any issues. Frankly I found them to be irrational and ill prepared to debate issues with anything but emotional augments. It seemed that those who had long held family farms that they derived a living from were the first to augur no, primarily it seemed becaus they are going ok as things are and did nog aven want to consider the rest of the community and it's needs.
As for the woman who was from another farm in the north of Qld, could not define a negative from having gas exploration on their land except to say dealing with the gas company had been stressful and difficult, I note that the video of her property showed significant infrastructure and cattle packed into a fed lot. All of which she claims the mone from the gas had no part in creating and did nog help th farm at all as they could manage without it. Of course the feed log practice is good for both the environment and the cattle. What did she add to the whole debate? Not sure really.
The whole thing was interesting but driven more by emotion than fact, which is good TV, but at the end of the day Lakes is looking at conventional gas. Thus let's move on and get some access to our tenements and produce some gas!
