Don't get confused about who screwed who regarding Ansett - the screwing was long under way by the time Solly and Lindsay had their go.
Aside from going back to Rupert and "Sir" Peter the screwing started when the initial administrators were rolled in favour of Mark and Mark on the shonky premise that there was a conflict of interest. The only conflict was that they were going to wind it up and the unions couldn't accept that (Bracks and Brumby also had a roll in changing the administrators). Consequently we had the airline flying well past its use-by date and incurring additional huge losses. Solly and Lindsay came along as the only buyers and in many ways you can't blame them for trying to feed off a carcass that shouldn't have still been lying around.
As for them screwing the Ansett workers - they and their working conditions were at least partly to blame for the fact that Ansett was unable to be competitive against the likes of Virgin and never would be. Their redundancy claims stick in my throat - they haven't been made redundant - the company went broke!
I have no time for Solly (see Yannon) and no opinion on Lindsay (I'm sure he cares) but they didn't screw Ansett - maybe they tried to, but they were at the end of a sorry story.
