I would welcome your thoughts, Sentrypetal, on this one. My usual policy is "If the shorts are high, don't buy". But I bought into BAL two weeks ago, allowing hope for the future to win out over my normal caution. The current level of short interest is really testing my thinking... and nerves. Especially as I'm in for at least a year to reduce CGT, so don't plan to get out on a spike. Why do you think BAL is among the most shorted stocks on the market – and increasing? I don't go for the usual line that shorters are just gamblers taking a punt that the stock will go down, or leading it in that direction by selling huge volumes and creating fear. They're usually very savvy investors. These levels are scary.
