Yes, I see it as significant progress.
AL's walking this thing through a sea of political fudge, in cooperation with the Malaysian administration. The power-mongers / green-mongers, preserving their faces, are surrendering imperceptibly like slow moving treacle.
It takes time - but look, the unfounded hysteria and two headed fish propaganda has all but evaporated. The poor, mislead masses are being weened off their feelings of fake outrage and righteousness.
Today the talk is about Lynas continuing operations, with the link made to ongoing foreign investment. Exporting Condisoil with Malaysian government facilitation seems possible.
Yes, that's solid progress, but Yeo frames it to imply Lynas is humbled - chastened at her hand.
That's politics - make a distracting noise, muddle and smokescreen, look like you're walking away from your actual goal, so that others don't stand in your way.
For example, we all KNOW the politically inexperienced POTUS wants, and needs to deliver, improved border security. So a world of political gamers unite to block it, and US border infrastructure building is more starved of funds than it's been in 67 years.
Alternatively we see, with seasoned politicians, often things are really being moved in an opposite direction from their public posturing. With forethought and deliberation.
The most blatant example - promises of human paradise from Marxists smoke screening their single-minded implementation of slave-labour autocracies. Yes, that actually worked a treat in backward feudal societies.
So Yeo, "positioned" and "speaking out" as the hammer of Lynas, has actually publicly announced that Lynas will continue operations, and Malaysia's Government will facilitate. That's what's meaningful.
Next step forward: looks like waste containment, plus possible bagging and exporting Condisoil for export. (And if the New York Times restarts it's lying campaign; reframed as third world "waste dumping", Yeo's positioned to deflect them as a "Greenie" herself).
Fair bet that the next time Fuzzy's type get back to spitting chips about Lynas, they'll be demanding to know by what corrupted, evil conspiracy this good Malaysia fertiliser is being exported to nasty foreigners.
So then, step two, sell it in Malaysia.
AL is sensibly keeping her mouth quiet and her head down. To express vindication ("gloating foreigner") would be the worst move now.
