As long as you dont engage into obvious tax avoidance scams and you can demonstrate 'arms length' .
Eaxample, say you buy BHP shares at $28 with the intention of transferring a few to your SMSF.
If by the time you get around to transferring the shares (say a week) BHP shoots up to $50, you can still do the off-market transfer at $28.
