I honeymooned in NZ in 2005; flew into Christchurch and spent two weeks on the south island. If you're ever considering a holiday, people- NZ is probably the prettiest location on the planet. Everywhere you go- a stream, a lake, a river. Magnificent rainforests and snow-capped mountains.
Not long after the massive earthquake hit and really broke things. But you rebuild and keep moving. How the NZers will recover from this, I really don't know. 40 confirmed deceased and surely more to come
