    Need a rooster, without one hens will stop laying. Hope your pen is fox proof. Remember foxes dig and climb!!
    In my experience hens will not move fast enough to avoid eagles.
    Hens love mulberries and mulberries love hens poo. Will give better eggs.
    Don't remember breed of neighbor's rooster but it was about size of small bantam. Did a google I think it was a silkie bantam.
    Once he arrived the ladies started laying again. Ask you local woollies for veggie scraps. Not all are supportive but some will co-operate.
    We have a mates/ piss up/ garden party card afternoon once a week at which time my wife exchanges vege scraps for eggs.
