    It may make an initial difference when the rooster is first introduced but when they get used to him being there they seem to return to a normal cyclical thing! Roosters eat a lot of food, are noisy and can be very aggressive so the only reason we have one is for the kids to witness the newborn chickens. Some breeds of chooks lay more than others on an annual basis also, so if it is just the eggs you want just get the mixed breed from the fodder store. Our current rooster is called Errol (after errol flynn) and is fairly passive compared to some we have had. The last couple had to be dispatched (via an axe) due to beating up on the wife and kids although they don`t seem to attack me in the same manner!
