I would query your statement --- Given the relative health of the Global economy, the recent negativity is looking a little over done imo.
Is the world economy that good ????
IMHO China is in a strong position to throw a few darts at the US economy if only to say "don't try to boss us around"
But the economy in general could be just disintegrating from within due to so many balls in the air at the same time with so much fiddling by all and sundry for the economy to function properly.
I have long since been surprised by anything that happens, things which have never happened before
