By design as Carbon Energy and Linc do it , the chamber is maintained at below hydrostatic pressure .

The idea is that by keeping the pressure lower than the surrounding rocks the contaminants (and product) stay within the chamber and the production well and do not migrate outwards .

I can't agree with you that Govt support is inevitable , certainly not in the timescales Carbon Energy need it .

The bureaucrats in Australia all make good livings and do not NEED UCG . Other countries without CSG or shale or mineable coal don't have a the option of ignoring UCG .
