Sydney - Thursday - June 19: (RWE Aust Business News) - Energy
Metals (ASX:EME) has results from metallurgial test work on samples from
the Bigrlyi uranium and vanadium project, Northern Territory.
Acid leaching was confirmed as the favoured process route and
base case tests recovered 98 per cent uranium in 24 hours.
Based on this analysis optimum leach conditions yielded
extraction rates of 94-95pc uranium and 45pc vanadium.
The ability to reduce acid consumption to levels 40 per cent
lower than the levels assumed for the initial scoping study, without
reducing uranium extraction rates, is considered highly significant as
the acid costs were around 70 per cent of the total cost of consumables.
Relative to this, any reduction in vanadium recovery rates is
considered immaterial to project economics.
A revised scoping study has commenced with the larger resource
base and lower acid consumption expected to have a positive impact.
