"Manus Island is both a bauxite target and potential copper/gold play. The MIL licence application surrounds Triple Plate Junctions Manus Island gold exploration
Previous sampling at the Lapatuan prospect conducted by Exoil and Carpentaria Exploration Co Pty Ltd (1974) identified bauxitic clays and nodules which graded 51.3 to 56.2 % alumina. Test pits to 5m depth assayed 40 to 56% alumina with Fe2O3 content of 10.8 to 22.7%."
