If the merchants are so bad and the company still managed $100,000,000 in sales.... can you possibly imagine the next 6 months where instead of $100,000 for marketing / signing new customers, they have access to $12 million, and the incredible team they have put together for marketing.
After pay needs as many merchants as possible, as the loans are quite small so at the moment splitit can have the same sales volume with 10% of the retailers if afterpay has an average transaction of $100, as splitit average is over $1000. Also retailers with pricier items cannot offer afterpay as an option for pricier items - the list is huge. If they sign up car retailers........... you could get a 3 year car loan interest free for example. Who would not take that up, if you have the credit limit and need to borrow for a new car? It's a no-brainer also If they sign up amazon / e-bay / partner with paypal....... well thats just 3 or 4 customers with access to millions.
