I use them for exactly the same reason. you have the ability to react without having the cash in a specific account at that moment. has served me well for shares where there has been a sudden unquantifiable drop meaning you can pick them up at a discount. I am not aware of any other retail broker that offers this facility but that obviously does not mean there is not one.
