He started his French cooking with an Elizabeth David cook book!
I have one too : ). A plain little paperback that was a text at a school I went to for a bit.
I owned it for years before I finally made a clear soup from that book ( so boring it sounded) - just cabbage, potato, carrots, onion and not much more as I recall. But it was wonderful - ambrosia!

We may as well have food/chef appreciation as well as the wine club
(And @Pioupiou you have to join in because you are right ‘shrouds don’t have pockets’ and gourmet and gourmand may be cognate but really they are quite different and enjoying the craft of talented makers - music, food, wine and mining and civil infrastructure companies is to appreciate and honour their talent ...and even I can tell the difference between a ten dollar bottle of wine and a $40 bottle!)

There is so much to celebrate - results are due and they are expectec to be excellent. NRW ‘fell too far too fast’, has recovered mightily, and is reckoned by many whose opinions are valued to have a very positive future.
