When NWH ventured into West Africa on the coattails of RIO trying to get a mine established at Simandou, it did not work out well, and NWH ended up with equipment in Guinea. However, I believe that the way NWH handed that did not go unnoticed, and I suspect it is a factor that helped cement a good relationship with RIO, so in the longer run, the disaster may be viewed as a positive.

I am not keen on the idea of NWH stepping out of Australia, unless it is invited to do so by the likes of RIO. RIO, in particular, would be prepared to address any concerns that NWH would raise to avoid a similar experience to the Simandou misadventure.
